They pointed out that the album was released on December 10, 2020, which also happened to be Dickinson’s birth date. Now, Ancestry.com has made another interesting revelation about the connection between Taylor Swift and the legendary American poet Emily Dickinson.
Emily Dickinson was an American poet who lived during the 19th century. Even though she was not very well known when she was alive, she is now considered one of the most impactful American poets of all time. Despite being born into a prominent family, Dickinson spent much of her life in isolation and never got married. Only ten of the 1800 poems written by her were published during her lifetime as they did not fit the accepted poetic norms of the mid-19th century.

The American genealogy company, Ancestry, revealed in a report to NBC Today that Travis Kelces’s girlfriend Taylor Swift is related to Emily Dickinson. According to the report, the 34-year-old singer and Dickinson are sixth cousins, three times removed.
The report revealed that both the icons are descended from a 17th-century English immigrant who was one of the first few Europeans to settle in Windsor, Connecticut. The man is reportedly the pop star’s ninth great-grandfather and the 19th-century poet’s sixth great-grandfather.
Taylor Swift has referenced Emily Dickinson in the past
Many fans of Taylor Swift believe that Emily Dickinson has served as an inspiration for her. The assumption does not come as a surprise considering the 34-year-old singer has previously referenced Dickinson in the past while recieving an award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
Swift made a reference to Dickinson in a speech when she won the songwriter-artist of the decade award in 2022. She said, “If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre.”
Swifties have made another speculation, connecting Swift’s hit song Evermore to Emily Dickinson. Notably, the speculation arises from the last line of Dickinson’s poem title, “One Sister have I in our house.” The poem ends with the line, “Sue – forevermore!” which has led many to believe that the song was written by Swift as an homage to Dickinson.
Taylor Swift is currently busy with the Eras Tour and recently signed a deal with Singapore for them to be the only destination in Southeast Asia where she will perform. She has not made any comments on the revelation by Ancestry as of now, but it will interesting to see if she will make any comments about being related to Emily Dickinson.
