Chosen Anderson, once known as Robbie, a standout in American football as a wide receiver in the NFL. He was born on May 9, 1993, as Robert Steven Anderson and now plays for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL).
Anderson started his football journey by playing college football at Temple University. In 2016, without being drafted, the New York Jets signed him and he started his professional career. Further, Anderson played for the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals.
Anderson’s NFL career spans eight seasons. He started with the Jets for four seasons, then played three with the Panthers, and spent the last season with the Cardinals. During this time, he demonstrated exceptional talent, scoring five or more touchdowns in four seasons and achieving over 1,000 receiving yards in one season.
Recently, Anderson made a deal with the Dolphins, joining a strong group of wide receivers, led by stars like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. This year in 2023, he made some significant personal changes. In February 2023, Anderson chose to be called “Chosen”, moving away from “Robby” and “Robbie”. This change marks a crucial chapter in his life and career as he continues to shine in the NFL.
Why did Chosen Anderson change his name?
Jets fans fondly called Chosen Anderson the “Sun God.” Anderson began his NFL journey as a receiver from Temple, entering the league without being drafted. Fans loved him for catching those long touchdown passes from Josh McCown and Sam Darnold and for his interesting tweets. Back when he played for the New York Jets, he was known as “Robby” and liked when the sun stayed out later.

He changed it back to his original preferred spelling from when he was young. Anderson stuck with this name until the end of 2022, finishing the season as a Cardinals member after a midseason trade, before deciding on another name change in February.

People familiar with Anderson’s social media will recognize his new name, “Chosen,” which often mirrors his online presence. He posted a photo (now removed) showing a text conversation with his lawyer, confirming the name change.
In one message, it said, “Great news! Our motion for consideration worked! Name changes granted an official!” This was an announcement confirming the change was approved by the legal process.
Anderson reflected on this change, saying, “Those mistakes are part of my past,” hinting at the reason behind choosing a new name. The receiver faced several arrests in the past but mentioned in 2018 that a night in jail significantly impacted and changed his life.
