Novak Djokovic could not help his team to get past the Croatian challenge in the Semifinals of the Davis Cup. Despite getting a win in the second match, the Serbian team could not capitalize and hence lost the match. The Croatian team performed exceptionally well in the match and hence secured a spot in the finals of the Davis Cup. They will now face the winner of the other semi-final. The other semi-final will take place between Russia and Germany.

How did Novak Djokovic perform?
In the first match though the Croatian player, Borna Gojo was the winner as he faced Dusan Lajovic. He won the set 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 which gave them the eventual lead before going into the second match.
Novak Djokovic played the second match against Marin Cilic. It was a must-win match for the Serbian side. In the first set, Cilic gave him some competition but it was the Serbian who eventually came out on top. The set ended 6-4 in the favor of Joker. In the second set, the Croatian player could not capitalize as he showed a sloppy performance.
Also some strong serves from Novak resulted in him winning the second set as well. The match ended 6-4, 6-2 in the Joker’s favor. Then, after this victory, he lined up for the third match which was to be played in doubles. Novak teamed up with Filip Krajinovic. They faced Nikola Mecktic Mate Pavic from Croatia. In the first set though, the competition was tight and none of the teams refused to give up.

It was the Croatian duo who came up in the end and took the set in their favor in tie breaks. In the second set though, the story was not the same. Mektic and Pavic dominated the set right till the very end and stood their grounds pretty well. They eventually won the set 6-1 and ended as the winners.
