Novak vs Berettini

Novak Djokovic is all set to take on Matteo Berrettini here in the quarter-finals in the US open 2021. With Novak eyeing the fourth Grand slam of the year, Matteo will be trying his best to get past the Serbian in order to seal the spot in the semifinals.

The two players have also met previously. We take a closer look at what happened at those previous meetings. Who emerged the better among the two and who has a better head-to-head ratio?

Head to head clashes between Novak and Matteo

With the quarter-final step to take place in just a few hours, we take a look at who is the better player among the 2 and who has a better chance of progressing into the next round? The two players have previously met each other on three occasions but the Italian has failed to win in all the three matches that were played between the two.

The first time they clashed was in 2019 at the ATP Finals Great Britain. The match was without a question in Novak’s favor as he did not give his opponent any chance whatsoever of a comeback. The Joker won the match pretty comfortably with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-1.

Berrettini vs Djokovic. Can’t get any better. It would be fireworks. Can’t forget there Roland Garros match.

Can Matteo avenge his Wimbledon final.

The next time they both met was at the 2021 French Open. It was at the quarterfinals that both the players competed against each other. The match was a tough competition but it was ultimately Novak Djokovic who won the game with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5. Though Matteo tried to make a comeback after losing the first two sets it was not enough to overcome the Serbian powerhouse.

They met for the third time at the Wimbledon championship in the same year. This time it was the trophy at the stake. With so much on the line, both the players had the pressure to perform at the Grand stage. Matteo started the match quite comfortably and he won the first set with some efforts with a score of 6-7. But then it was Novak who came into action and clinches the other three sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 to win the championship. It was the third meeting between the two players and Novak denied him a victory yet again.

Moving forward, no matter what!

Will Novak Djokovic progress further in the US open?

With the form that the Serbian has shown, it is quite sure that Novak Djokovic is the most favorite person to win the US Open. He has all the odds in his favor to beat Matteo Berrettini and progress into the semifinals yet again.

The contest between Novak Djokovic vs Matteo Berrettini has been really intense this year. However, Djokovic has dominated against him. There’s a high probability that we’ll see it once again in the US Open Quarter Final!#USOpen pic.twitter.com/FQVjUM0sYK

But on the other hand, it will be interesting to see how Matteo performs as he will be trying to break the deadlock in the fourth meeting between them. The winner will be decided in just a few hours.
