ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Demetrious Johnson has added even more hardware to his stacked trophy cabinet.
“Mighty Mouse” has reigned over ONE’s flyweight division since 2022, adding to his stellar run in North America which saw him become a 12-time UFC Flyweight Champion. The American superstar is widely regarded as the greatest flyweight MMA fighter in history, and there is little left in the sport for him to achieve.
So, in recent times he has brought his talents to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world and shown that his competitive appetite remains as strong as ever. As a BJJ brown belt, Johnson swept a field of more than 30 competitors last year to claim the IBJJF Masters World Championship. But the 37-year-old is still hungry for gold.
Demetrious Johnson topples much larger man to claim another BJJ Championship
Demetrious Johnson has won gold at the IBJJF Pan Championships in Kissimmee, Florida. The MMA legend took out the top prize in the Master 2 Featherweight division at the tournament, and despite reportedly weighing around 155 pounds on the day, he also claimed silver in the open weight category.

The latter included a stunning win over 6-foot-3, 250-pound Mike Medina in the opening round of the tournament. After succumbing to a bow and arrow choke at the hands of Johnson, Medina was full of praise for his 5-foot-3 counterpart when speaking to MMA Fighting after the match.
“He’s a beast, man,” he said. “Keeping that dude still is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. He’s rough.” Johnson hasn’t been seen in MMA since his scintillating victory over arch-rival Adrian Moraes on American soil in May 2023.
For now, he appears to be content cleaning up the competition in BJJ, but he hasn’t closed the door on a return to the Circle to defend his ONE Flyweight MMA World Title. However, with his recent focus on sharpening his BJJ skills, perhaps a bout under ONE’s booming submission grappling rule set could tickle his fancy.
