SUMMARY
- Josue Cruz is set to make his comeback at ONE Fight Night 22.
- Cruz will fight Sean Climaco in a Muay Thai contest on May 3.
Josue Cruz is one of the rare Muay Thai standouts from Mexico to grace the ONE Championship ring, and at ONE Fight Night 22: Sundell vs. Diachkova on Prime Video, he is planning a statement win.
“Tuzo” faces Road to ONE: America winner Sean Climaco in a flyweight Muay Thai battle that will open proceedings with a bang at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 3.
Cruz hasn’t been seen since he fell in the first round to former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title challenger Walter Goncalves on debut back in 2022, his first loss as a professional. Since then, however, the 28-year-old insists that he has been busy preparing for his next opportunity.
“As a fighter, I’ve improved greatly since my fight against Goncalves. I’ve dedicated myself to correcting my mistakes,” he said.

“I learned a lot [from that loss]. The competition inside of ONE Championship is on another level, and you have to give it your all from the first second. You can’t go in there looking to play or study your opponent. You have to fight and win.”
“I want to redeem myself from my last performance. Now, I have the opportunity to show who ‘Tuzo’ Cruz is and show what Mexican fighters can do. I’ve been training hard, and I know that everything will go well. We’re prepared and motivated.”
Now, he gets his chance to show what he has learned in the ring.
Josue Cruz plans to make a statement in ONE Fight Night 22 return
Josue Cruz says that he will kick off a Mexican Muay Thai takeover when he faces America’s Sean Climaco at ONE Fight Night 22.
Cruz became the first Mexican Muay Thai fighter to compete under the ONE banner in 2022, and now he plans on opening his country’s account in the win column.
“There’s a bunch of different scenarios in my head as to how I see this fight playing out. The only thing I can say is that I’m going to give it my all. I see my hand getting raised at the end of the fight and hearing Dom Lau saying, ‘The winner out of Mexico, Tuzo Cruz,’” he said.

“It’s not going to be an easy fight, and Mexico is coming to take over.”
While he is a proud Mexican, Cruz is currently based in Paris, France, where he has been training at Mahmoudi Gym alongside former ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title challenger Elias Mahmoudi ahead of his return to the ring.
