In a career spanning 36 professional mixed martial arts bouts, Patricio Freire has only tasted loss four times inside the cage. With 32 wins to his name, and notable victories over the likes of Michael Chandler, Pat Curran, and Daniel Straus, and Emmanuel Sanchez, the younger of the Pitbull brothers have time and again proved their credibility inside the octagon.
Patricio Freire suffers split decision losses against Joe Warren and Daniel Straus
In just his third Bellator fight, Patricio Freire suffered a split decision loss to Joe Warren at Bellator 23. In what was a very close fight, Warren defeated 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 on the judges’ scorecards. The bout marked Freire’s first loss of his professional MMA career, and ironically it came in his first main-event fight for Bellator. The loss came in his 15th professional bout.
It would be a while before Freire would suffer his next loss, which came against Daniel Straus back at Bellator 145 in his third title defense for the Bellator featherweight championship. Once again, it was a close fight that Freire lost via split decision. He would go on to avenge his loss with a submission win over Straus to reclaim his featherweight gold at Bellator 178.
Patricio Freire suffers a TKO loss against Benson Henderson due to a leg injury
Patricio made his lightweight debut against former UFC champion and MMA veteran Benson Henderson in one of the most anticipated bouts in Bellator’s history. However, it ended on a dismal note after repeated checks from Henderson to vicious leg kicks from Freire eventually left an impact on Freire’s leg, who was unable to continue, waving off his arms in the middle of the second round.
The bout came at Bellator 160 and stands to be the last loss of Patricio Freire inside the Bellator cage. Since then, he has picked up seven straight wins to his name and will look to maintain the same domination as he continues on his mixed martial arts journey.
