Paul Felder viciously trolled lightweight contender Islam Makhachev in a reply to a tweet posted by the Dagestani fighter who invited the Irish Dragon to meet inside the Octagon. Earlier, former dual champion Daniel Cormier had compared Islam Makhachev’s position in the lightweight division to that of Kamaru Usman’s rise in the welterweight division.
Islam Makhachev has been unable to land a fight against a top-contender and continues to find it difficult to find an opponent. Makahchev is expected to face Thiago Moises and has not been able to secure a top-10 opponent despite a seven-fight win-streak in the UFC’s lightweight division.
Paul Felder reacted to the tweet on Cormier’s views on Islam, with Islam taking a jibe by asking Felder to meet him inside the Octagon at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. In what was an absolutely hilarious reply from Felder, the Irish fighter tweeted, “I’d rather watch paint dry.”

In the past, Islam Makhachev has been criticized for his fighting style by numerous other fighters. Earlier, Nate Diaz had tweeted out on the “boring” performance of Makhachev against Drew Dober.
Islam Makhachev could be the next UFC lightweight champion
Islam Makhachev has time and again proved why he could well be the next UFC lightweight champion. The Dagestani fighter and a close friend of former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagommedov employs the same kind of techniques that Nurmagomedov used in his fights.
Makhachev relies on his combat Sambo background and uses wrestling to his advantage against his opponent. In what has been a dominant past year for Makahchev, the Dagestani fighter has not looked back since his KO loss early in his career.
Daniel Cormier has even gone on to claim that Islam Makhachev is a better wrestler than Khabib and while the Eagle may be the superior mixed martial artist, Makahchev’s skills on the mat are on par with the undefeated Nurmagomedov. Needless to say, it is because of Islam’s ability to dominate his opponents on the ground that has made it difficult for any fighter to accept a fight against the Dagestani fighter and risk their resume.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead of Isman Makhachev as he continues on his rise in the lightweight division. Needless to say, the future looks bright for the lightweight contender.
