Rafael Nadal’s win at the French Open has sparked a frenzy. After his injury bout, people expected either Djokovic, Alcaraz or Zverev to clinch the trophy however Rafael Nadal proved why he is the best in business.
Rafael did not have an easy run of matches in the tournament and he had to pass through the likes of Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev to clinch the trophy by defeating Casper Rudd.
The Spaniard had to go through enormous pain and difficulty due to the chronic foot injury that has been troubling him since 2005.
There was also a time when it was speculated that Nadal may miss the French Open but he got through all the difficulties and overcame the tricky matches against Felix Auger and Novak Djokovic in his bid to win the title.
The wins at the Australian and the French Opens meant that he has now a record 22 Grand Slam titles, which means that he has 2 more titles than his long time rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Rafael Nadal is to undergo a new foot treatment
Nadal had previously revealed that he would be opting for a new foot treatment and if that does not work then he will think about surgery.
The Wimbledon is fast approaching and he needs to be fit for that. Nadal had to make a lot of changes to his overall game in order to adapt to the changing play styles. In an interview with the ATP, he revealed,
“I have been adapting things, for example, my racket. I have changed the weight and the strings, and I put more lead in the head of the racket to get more power,”
“Two days before the tournament I used my old racket again, thanks to Babolat preparing them for me in one afternoon. I didn’t feel enough with the new one to play on clay, but now I will play with it again,”
Rafael Nadal had also injected himself with a high tech electrode that was inserted into the damaged area of his foot. This electrode instead of damaging the tissues alters the pain fibres because of which Nadal was able to carry through with his injury.
