Rafael Nadal v/s Jannik Sinner- Head to Head

Rafael Nadal and Jannik Sinner have faced off against each other on three previous occasions. On all the meetings though, the Spaniard has come out on top defeating his Italian Rival. The former world no. 1 player has been a dominating force in all the previous meetings and has not given his opponent to be better at a head-to-head ratio.

Given below is the list of matches that took place between the Italian and the Spanish international.

  • Roland Garros Open 2020:  This was the very first time that both the players met. It was the quarter-finals and only the better among the two will progress. It was Rafael Nadal who stepped up to the occasion and won the match quite comfortably with a scoreline of 7-6, 6-4, 6-1.
  • ATP Masters 1000 Rome Italy: When both the players met for the second time, it was the Rome Masters in Italy. This time it was the Round of 32. Again the result was the same as Rafael Nadal emerged victorious for the second time in a row. The scoreline this time around reading 7-5, 6-4 in the favor of Nadal.
  • Roland Garros Open 2021: This was the third time when both the players encountered each other. It was the Round of 16. The result again went in the favor of Rafael Nadal. Though it took him some effort to win the first set, he did not waste much time in the second and third set winning quite comfortably with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-3, 6-0.

It is interesting to see that the two players have always faced off against each other on a clay court. Given the advantage that Rafael Nadal possesses on a clay court, it is quite obvious that he is the most difficult player to defeat here. With this, the Spanish player maintains a 100% win percentage over his Italian rival.
