Reggie White is one of those players whom NFL fans remember even now. Born in December 1961, he impressed everyone through his time in the league. The defensive end contributed quite well to all his teams. However, 4 years after retiring from the NFL, the star player left the world.
Many players have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. However, Reggie White was among the greatest players who transcended even the Hall of Fame. The 6-foot-5 player left the football world in 2000. After that, the football world went into shock post the news of White’s death on December 26, 2004.
It all happened exactly a week after White celebrated his 43rd birthday. As per reports, the Tennessee-born defensive end died of arrhythmia. Reggie White was reportedly sleeping peacefully with his family at his Cornelius home in North Carolina. On the morning of December 26, 2004, he started to struggle. After that, his family took him to a hospital in Huntersville.
In the hospital, the doctors declared the former Philadelphia Eagles star dead. The medical reports at that time suggested that cardiac and pulmonary sarcoidosis caused the arrhythmia. Also, Reggie White reportedly suffered from sleep apnea because of which he faced difficulty breathing while sleeping.
In his family, White left his wife, Sara White, and two kids behind. However, in the NFL world, the star player left a legacy behind which inspires many even now.
ESPN to release a documentary on Reggie White
Reggie White proved during his NFL career that he was one of the best players in the league. The 300 lb player inspired many young talents during his 16-year NFL career. Now, after 19 years of his death, White had once again grabbed the limelight. That’s because ESPN is releasing a documentary on the star player.
After exhibiting his talent at the University of Tennessee, Reggie White entered the NFL in 1985. The Eagles selected him as their 4th pick in the 1st round of the NFL draft. He stayed with the team for 8 years before joining the Packers in 1993. There, White played 7 years and then went to the Carolina Panthers in 2000. For them, he played 1 season and then retired from the league.

Throughout his career in the league, White had 1,112 tackles and 198 sacks. The defensive end also had 33 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions, and 2 TDs. He won a Super Bowl as well with the Packers in the 1996 season against the New England Patriots.
Considering the exceptional career of Reggie White, ESPN came up with the idea of his documentary. “The Minister of Defence” is a 90-minute documentary for the network’s 30 for 30 series. It showcases the former Green Bay Packers star’s phenomenal football journey.
