Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are two of the biggest crossover stars in the WWE right now. The MMA veterans were able to transition from the octagon to the squared circle with ease. The duo who wreaks havoc on Smackdown as a tag team are good friends in real life too.
Both Rousey and Baszler during their days in the UFC were part of the famous “Four Horsewomen” group. MMA stars Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke were the other members of the group. Rousey is the winner of the inaugural UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. She is also the first female inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame. Baszler meanwhile is a former FCF Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix Champion.
Both Rousey and Baszler have been sparring partners and have trained together in their careers but the two stars have never competed against each other. It looks like WWE is one place where fans will get to see the dream match between the two superstars.
Shayna Baszler owes her career to Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey’s success and popularity in the UFC have benefited Shayna Baszler and the rest of the Horsewomen massively. Rousey’s star power brought more eyes to her friends as well.
Shayna was unable to match Rousey’s success in the UFC but she admits that she is happy to see her friends achieve success. Talking to Corey Graves on the “After The Bell” podcast, the former NXT star opened up about her relationship with Ronda Rousey.
“If anyone talked about us, it was only because of her. It’s just something that we had to learn to just shrug off, and I think the four of us supported each other. We genuinely take pleasure when one of us gets any success. We have, I mean, we’re friends, so, yeah, we have some friendly banter here and there about who’s done what and all that, but it’s not…nobody’s pretending anybody’s cooler than anybody else. It’s kinda fun like, who doesn’t want their friends at work with them?” she said. (H/T: Sportskeeda)
Rousey and Baszler since arriving in the WWE were able to achieve success immediately. While Rousey won the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships, Baszler won the NXT Women’s Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Championships in the company.

Both superstars are currently working as a tag team on Smackdown. Rousey reportedly pushed the company to form the tag team. The duo is set to team up at WrestleMania 39 in a fatal four-way tag team match. Fans are hoping that WWE will soon book a singles feud between the former MMA stars. It’ll be interesting to see who will come on top if the match ever happens.
