Roger Federer, widely regarded as the best player by many is about to compete in this year’s US Open. He already has five US titles to his name and he is the person with the most number of singles titles in men’s history.
Though he had a rough 2021 year. He was taken out in the Quarterfinals of the Wimbledon championship. In the French Open as well, he was eliminated in the third round and the biggest disappointment came when he announced that he will not participate in the Australian Open.
Most recently the news popped out that he has withdrawn from the Cincinnati open and Toronto Open just before the US Open. This leaves his fans with a doubt as to whether he will be able to compete in the US open or not.

In the US Open, this year he will have to face tough competition from top-seeded players like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Danill Medvedev to name a few. Though expectations of him are not high because of the fact that he had a rough 2021 year and he was taken out of major Grand slam tournaments.
He also featured in some major tournaments like Qatar open and Geneva open in which he did not perform as per expectations. He was taken out of the tournaments in the quarter-finals and round of 16 respectively. With the age also becoming a key factor Roger Federer will have to face some serious competition because the underdogs are playing some great tennis as of now.
The 39 years old superstar is undergoing surgery. He suffered from the injury just after Wimbledon 2021. This made him withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics as well. But we do know for a fact that what Roger has achieved is undeniable. Still at this age, he shows no sign of aging and continuous to compete in the Grand stage.

But in order to progress further in this tournament, he will have to perform beyond expectations. Given the fact that he has not won this tournament since 2008, the efforts that will be required from him will be tremendous.
