The Covid-19 Virus has affected the lives of millions of people. The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns was also not shown any mercy. The Current Universal Champion was set to face the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar on New Year’s day at the WWE Day 1 event.
Unfortunately, Reigns contracted the dreadful coronavirus and hence was unable to compete in the match. It turned out to be better for Brock as he turned out to win the WWE Title in the main event of the said event.
Roman Reigns on life after contracting the virus
After revealing that he had contracted the virus, Reigns went into isolation. The following Friday on SmackDown, Reigns made his return.
The Tribal Chief was a guest on an episode of the ‘Sports Illustrated Media Podcast‘. Reigns revealed that he is still suffering from the effects of the virus.
“For me, obviously in comparison to some of the worst scenarios that are out there and that we’ve seen through the pandemic, it wasn’t bad,” Reigns revealed on the podcast. “For me, it was mainly a pretty good sinus infection, a bronchitis cough, a lot of chest tightness.
“I still feel that actually. When I’m doing my conditioning because we don’t wrestle quite as much and we’re doing a lot of six-man [tag team matches], I don’t have singles matches as much as I used to, so I have to continue to really push the conditioning on my own and I’ve noticed in the past couple of weeks that when I really blow myself up on the bike or running, or whatever I’m doing, I can feel that tightness and a little bit of wheezing.
“So it’s definitely something serious. As someone who is vaccinated and boosted, it still got to me and I still felt the effects. While they weren’t as severe as they can be for some, it did hang around and linger for a while.”
Precautions are taken by WWE in the fight against COVID-19
Just like any other major company, WWE is taking this pandemic very seriously. WWE conducts tests on a regular, the tests would take place before every show. WWE also has made it mandatory for every superstar to get vaccinated. If a superstar is not vaccinated then they were not allowed to take part in the show. Roman Reigns’ experience with the virus shows how different it can affect each individual.
