Calvin Kattar will return inside the octagon after a lengthy layoff to take on Giga Chikadze in a five-round main event featherweight clash at UFC Vegas 46 this weekend. The American fighter last fought against Max Holloway in January 2020 where he suffered a brutal unanimous decision loss.
Ahead of his big clash against Giga Chikadze, the featherweight fighter reflected on his last fight against The Blessed during the UFC media interview. “Hey, you know it didn’t work out my way but like I said man I finished that fight the way it started on my own two feet. Props to Max he fought a hell of a fight and I definitely walked away from the fight with an understanding of what he’s doing.”
Calvin also said that he learnt some things from the Holloway fight and further expressed that he wants to fight Holloway in a rematch.” I look forward to a round six with the uncrowned champ.”
This statement might surprise many as Kattar created a record for absorbing the most number of strikes during his fight against Holloway. Despite suffering a trashing defeat, the featherweight fighter has made a wish to face Holloway again.
Calvin Kattar has nothing but respect for Max Holloway
Following his callout for a rematch against Max Holloway, Calvin Kattar was questioned by an interviewer about how he felt after seeing The Blessed’s antics during their faceoff last year. The American fighter explained that “To be fair I did say something in the pre-fight which you know five hours in the gym doing interviews eventually you’re gonna spit out something that they like.”
“Nothing but respect for Max man even I know leading into the fight he was getting a little bit there. But I ve seen that guy post losses, Dustin Poirier, going over shaking the opposite family’s hands. He’s a class act man. I get where he’s going with it.”
After giving his thoughts about Holloway he then answered some questions regarding his upcoming fight against Chikadze. In the end, it is needless to say that Kattar would need to get past Chikadze before getting any chance for a rematch against Max Holloway.
