Garbine Muguruza saw her Wimbledon campaign coming to an end earlier than expected. She saw a first-round exit by losing to unseeded Greet Minnen. Not only did Muguruza lose her match, but was completely dominated by her opponent.
The Spaniard struggled to find her form and the match turned out to be a one-sided affair. Muguruza was seeded ninth in Wimbledon this year. Even though she was not the favorite to win the tournament, no one expected her to crash out in the first round.

This year has been particularly disappointing for Muguruza. It seems like she has lost all the confidence that helped her win two grand slams in the past. She is struggling against unseeded opponents and is not exuding the confidence she once did.
She met with a similar fate in the French Open when she crashed out in the first round. In the Australian Open, she won her first-round match but crashed out in the second round. Muguruza is yet to win any WTA tournaments this year.
Garbine Muguruza breaks down after underperforming in the second set
Muguruza looked fine during the first set as she was hitting the ball quite well. However, Belgium’s Minnen managed to find a breakpoint and win the set 6-4. However, the Spaniard lost her focus in the second set and it all came crashing down for her.
Muguruza crying before serving at 0-5 in the 2nd set. She just cannot put a ball inside the court.
Shocking stuff.

The second set ended with a score of 6-0 in favor of Minnen. At the 0-5 mark, it was Muguruza’s turn to serve and she completely broke down. She was in tears as she was unable to play her shots accurately. Minnen went on to break even that game and win the match.
A figure desperately fighting against them.

Muguruza fans are hoping that she would shake things off and press the reset button. She has been in a slump throughout the year and it is clearly not getting any better. Her fans are rooting for her to bounce back and come back stronger for the US Open.
