Cristiano Ronaldo is undergoing a downward trajectory in his career ever since his tell-all interview with Piers Morgan following which his contract with Manchester United got terminated after he called shots at Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, and also the board.
Cristiano moved to the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr and this was seen as a sign of him accepting his defeat and moving on. In a fairytale turn of events, this move gave fans the final opportunity of watching Messi and Ronaldo play against each other as PSG traveled to the middle eastern country to play an exhibition match which PSG won 5-4.
Ronaldo even though scored 2 goals in the game, finished on the losing end but fans were hopeful of a revival in his form. But the recent defeat to Al Ittihad in the semifinals of the Saudi Super Cup has raised even more questions on the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner as he was subjected to massive embarrassment at the hands of fans who chanted Messi’s name after the defeat.
They chanting Messi’s name to Ronaldo after getting humiliated in the final. Nah this is funny. 😭😭😭

The Jeddah-based club Al-Ittihad, managed by former Wolves and Tottenham coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, started the game on a high, scoring the first goal in the 15th minute and doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute. Al-Nassr got back into the game with Anderson Talisca’s goal but it wasn’t enough as Al-Ittihad put the tie to bed with a goal in the extra time.
This was Ronaldo’s first defeat at his new club and surprisingly he has not been able to score or assist in his first two competitive games for the club. This has led to him facing massive backlash at the hands of fans who have been trolling him for quite a while now and adding more pain to the misery was the fans’ choosing to sing Lionel Messi’s name in front of Ronaldo which would have surely embarrassed the Portuguese.
Cristiano went through an upsetting defeat against Morocco which meant his side Portugal crashed out of the World Cup which left him in tears. Rubbing salt to his wounds was his greatest rival, Lionel Messi, who won the World Cup, the only trophy that had been the difference between the legends, this victory for Messi was the last nail in the coffin of the GOAT debate which has been the center of soccer for a long time.
‘GOAT in the Mud’? Ruthless fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance against Al-Ittihad
Fans didn’t leave a chance to troll the 5-time UEFA Champions League winner even on the internet. We went to Twitter to take a look at some of the tweets by soccer fans:
Goat in the mud😂😂

Fans have ridiculed Ronaldo ruthlessly on Twitter and one fan trolled him by writing ‘GOAT in the mud’. They have come hard at Ronaldo and even called him unlucky for Al-Nassr. One fan wrote that he destroyed Manchester United while he was with the Old Trafford outfit and indicated that his training with Real Madrid was the reason that they got thrashed at the hands of FC Barcelona in the El Clasico.
Ronaldo left Manchester United. They are performing well
Ronaldo visited Real Madrid. Next day Barcelona trashed them.Sorry Al Nassr, you’re the latest victim

Another fan trolled Ronaldo for celebrating over excitedly after scoring in an exhibition match against Lionel Messi while he couldn’t do anything in a competitive game that actually mattered for Al-Nassr.
Blud scored in an exhibition match where Messi was sleeping in the match and he thought he was having a form of his life only to be crashed out of the cup 😭🤣
My idol Ronaldo is finished— Beno SarkCess (@BenopaOnyx1) January 26, 2023
It seems that the soccer fandom is done with Cristiano Ronaldo which is very surprising considering everything he has achieved in his career. The fans seem to have accepted that the Portuguese is finished and Lionel Messi has gone way ahead in the debate but will Ronaldo have an answer to this? Only time will answer this question.
