It all started on the training ground at Carrington, where United players were preparing for an upcoming match. Ferguson and Beckham got into a heated argument over the player’s commitment to the team. The argument escalated quickly, with Ferguson allegedly throwing a shoe at Beckham, hitting him in the face and requiring stitches.

This incident was not only a physical injury but also a turning point in Beckham’s relationship with the manager and his future with the club. The dynamics of the relationship between David Beckham and Sir Alex were vulnerable to media attention and attracted lot of criticism for it the very next day where the camps had divided opinions as is always.

The relationship that got soured after this incident resulted in David Beckham leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid and rest has been left for people to talk about.

Why did Sir Alex Ferguson throw a shoe at David Beckham?

The shoe was thrown by Sir Alex as a sign of frustration he had because of losing to Arsenal which resulted them exiting of the FA Cup. Beckham now says and calls it as an incident that happened in the heat of the moment and claims to have a better relationship with Sir Alex that did not get affected by this one incident but this was the same year he left for Real Madrid.

It is now that Beckham agrees to have made mistakes in that game and passes the incident as something that was hyped by the media and had no gravitas.

In Beckham’s words to theMirror, “It was a complete freak accident. As far as we were concerned, it was forgotten straight away within the club, but the incident made the papers which meant that people started to speculate about our relationship.”

“But as far as the boss and I were concerned it was over, done and dusted.”. Beckham left Manchester United for Real Madrid promptly after.

The incident was a turning point in Beckham’s career at Manchester United. Despite the club’s success, Beckham’s relationship with Ferguson was never the same. Rumors of a rift between the two began to circulate in the press and it was clear that Beckham’s days at the club were numbered. He was eventually sold to Real Madrid, shocking many United fans.

This transfer was a significant moment not only for Beckham and his career but also for the club and its fans who had grown to love him but for it to end with such bitterness was awful to watch for fans of Manchester United.

Are David Beckham and Alex Ferguson friends now?

The incident with the flying shoe was not the only factor that led to Beckham’s exit from Manchester United, but it was a catalyst for the breakdown of his relationship with Ferguson. The physical scars may have healed, but the emotional ones remain to this day. It is not publicly known if the two have reconciled or if they have a friendly relationship now. This incident left a lasting impact on their relationship and professional career.

He also had a successful international career with England, representing his country in three World Cup tournaments. He is currently a successful businessman and philanthropist, showing that he not only overcame the incident but also went on to achieve great things.

The story of David Beckham and Alex Ferguson has been told and retold for years, and it still has the power to shock and captivate audiences.
