The Simpsons is one of the longest-running shows in television history. Fans love its humorous episodes and its witty dialogues. However, the American television show has also gained fame due to its ability to correctly predict future events. It is safe to say that the writers of this show are true visionaries who make accurate predictions through the pop culture phenomenon.
However, a recent X post has been circling on the internet, that shows the American show predicting the winner of the African Cup Of Nations. And to everybody’s surprise, ‘The Simpsons’ predicted the tournament correctly. An image from the show allegedly shows the show’s character in Ivory Coast kits lifting the AFCON trophy.
However, after much research, we have concurred that the post is in fact, fake. In no episode, did the makers of the show, predicted the AFCON 2023 winners. It is an AI-generated picture that is circling TikTok, after the commencement of the tournament.
The Simpsons predicted a Portugal V/S Mexico Final for the 2018 WC
However, it is not the first time that news about The Simpsons predicting a soccer event has broken. During the FIFA World Cup 2018, an interesting video made rounds on the internet. It showed Portugal competing against Mexico in the final of the tournament. The show miraculously predicted the match way back in 1997, in an episode titled, “The Cartridge Family.”
The episode (via Deadline) shows Homer’s family watching an ad that shows Mexico and Portuguese players battling out on the soccer pitch. The fans’ excitement increased during the tournament, as the knockout tree for the 2018 WC had a potential Portugal V/S Mexico clash.
However, the prediction did not quite land as both Portugal and Mexico could not make it out of their respective Round of 16 matches. The American show also once correctly predicted Germany to be the champions of the world in 2014.
