Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United last year in September. Fans got what they wanted to see when they witnessed Ronaldo in the Red Devils’ bright red after 18 years. He first came to the Theatre of Dreams back in 2003, when he managed to impress the great Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ronaldo attracted tens of thousands of fans to Old Trafford that day. It seemed like the day was magical. However, some fans have taken note of a flaw in the legendary commentary of Peter Drury as Cristiano walked onto the pitch.
Fans believe Cristiano Ronaldo would not have gone to Man Utd if it wasn’t for Sporting CP
A fan mentioned in the comments, “They forgot Lisbon.. The whole reason why he went to Manchester. Ferguson saw Ronaldo at a Sporting Clube de Portugal match and recruited him there.” Others simply wrote, “Lisbon?” in the comments under the video.

It seems like a group of Ronaldo fans think that Sporting CP played a pivotal role in the player’s move to Manchester United. For the fans that do not know, Manchester United and Sporting faced each other in a friendly in 2003. Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager of the English club at the time. It was then that the Portuguese forward managed to impress Sir Alex during that game.
It is quite evident that Ronaldo started in Lisbon at Sporting, where he scored 5 goals with 6 assists in 31 games, according to Transfermarkt. Moreover, fans believe that it should have been included in the commentary when Peter Drury was mentioning all the cities Ronaldo has played at so far.CR7 has been having a below-par season so far. He has only managed to score 3 goals across all competitions this season. In just 871 minutes played in the English Premier League and the UEFA Europa League, Ronaldo has only got on the scoresheet thrice and has grabbed an assist in the UEL.
His career has taken a drastic turn after leaving Real Madrid and has not been able to win the Champions League trophy since 2018. He moved to Turin to play for Juventus but it did not go well for both parties at the time. Ronaldo moved back to Manchester hoping that he could lead them back to the glory days. It hasn’t been that way so far as United hasn’t won a trophy since 2017.
