Sunderland, currently in the Championship, is in 10th place, four points behind the playoff position. Beale’s unpopularity among Sunderland supporters was compounded after the team’s 2-1 defeat at Birmingham on Saturday.
He appeared to snub defender Trai Hume when he substituted him in the 88th minute. Beale later apologized on social media, denying that he had refused to shake hands and praising Hume’s professionalism.
Sunderland supporters were unhappy with Beale’s appointment, despite the team being just four points away from the play-off positions. However, Beale has found it difficult to win over the fans and players. Mick Beale had lost the dressing room, and the players expressed significant dissatisfaction with the imposition of additional training sessions following a defeat. Especially when Beale opted to take the day off.

This sacking marks the second time in a row that Beale has left a job on a sour note. He was previously fired from his position at Rangers after 43 games and 10 months in charge. Beale’s time at Sunderland was brief and he is now the shortest-serving permanent manager in the team’s history. Managing just one game fewer than Paolo di Canio did in 2013.
Mick Beale roasts Sunderland fans and owner before his Sunderland sack
Sunderland supporters have reportedly discovered a social media account allegedly belonging to Mick Beale. An account he supposedly used to criticize the club’s owners and fans. During his tenure, an account named “Player_ID” defended Beale in conversations with fans on X.
The account defended Beale’s decision not to shake Hume’s hand during a defeat at Birmingham and also asked fans whether he or his predecessor, Mowbray, had a stronger squad. However, sharp-eyed fans noticed a tweet from 2017 in which Beale asked users to follow the account. The account was his new business venture.

The account later retweeted a tweet from a Coventry City fan that called Sunderland fans “toxic.” The tweet linked to the saying stated, “If SAFC sack Beale who in their right mind would want that job? Owners that won’t back a manager in the transfer market and a toxic fan base who will boo the f**k out of him and want him gone as soon as they lose 2 games. The self-entitlement is on another level up there.”
The Second Tier podcast shared Beale’s connection to the account on his LinkedIn page. The thread also showed tweets from the account defending his tenure as Rangers manager. Since the fans made their alleged discovery, both Mick Beale’s X account and the Player__ID account have been deleted.
