Lionel Messi dropped a bombshell a couple of days ago as he announced his move to Inter Miami. Rejecting Al-Hilal and FC Barcelona, Messi has decided to move to Miami. His decision, as Messi explained, has been hugely influenced by his torrid experience for the past two years at PSG. However, while the soccer world has been left stunned, Messi’s decision doesn’t surprise Neymar Junior.
During an interview with NBA Brazil in Florida yesterday, Neymar confessed that he knew about Messi’s decision to move to Inter Miami. Neymar explained, “I already knew. I already knew that he would come here and we already talked. I said to him that he would be very happy because of the city, the lifestyle, and the opportunity of playing and living here in Miami.“
Neymar: “Messi to Miami? I knew that. Messi is one of my best friends and a gift the ball gave me. I had the chance to play with him and then we became friends. I knew he would come to Miami and we talked about it. I told him he would be very happy because of the city and the way… pic.twitter.com/ws8FGUmv9A

Neymar, who’s one of Lionel Messi’s closest friends, believes that Messi’s move will hugely affect the MLS. The Brazilian star said, “I am sure that Leo will change the league here in the United States. I think the league will become much more popular.” Neymar had also penned an emotional message for Lionel Messi after the Argentine played his last game for PSG.

Neymar, who knows all about Messi’s out-of-the-world soccer skills, also stated how fans need to enjoy the greatness of the 2022 World Cup hero. The PSG star said, “I think everybody needs to enjoy and watch him play. Because, unfortunately, nothing lasts forever.” With Lionel Messi turning 36 at the end of this month, it will only be a matter of a few years before the Argentine icon finally decides to hang up his boots.
Luis Suarez is planning to retire alongside Lionel Messi
Meanwhile, Luis Suarez, who is also a close friend of Lionel Messi, has expressed his desire of retiring alongside Messi. Suarez said, “We also agreed about it with Neymar. We hope to spend the last days of our career in the same club. Purely enjoy the joy of football and play football as we like and retire together. I don’t know about Neymar, but Messi and I will definitely be there together.”
Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Junior were part of the lethal MSN trio at FC Barcelona from 2015-2018. The trio scored 364 goals and registered 171 assists in 450 appearances together. They also won the Champions League title once, two La Liga titles, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup once. The trio finally disbanded with Neymar’s departure in 2018. Suarez and Messi also left the club in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Despite planning to retire with Messi, Suarez has no intention of going to Inter Miami. As per ESPN, Suarez branded the rumors of him moving to Miami as “false” and “impossible“. The Uruguayan striker currently plays for the Brazilian club Gremio. He joined the club last year and has provided 11 goals and 8 assists in 24 appearances. Luis Suarez’s contract at Gremio, however, will run out in 2024.
