Cristiano Ronaldo was the witness to yet another negative response from his rivals. The Portuguese and his teammates were playing against Al-Ahli in the SPL when they encountered this avoidable situation. However, this time it seems that his rivals went too far with their backlash.
Al-Ahli fans physically assault Al Nassr players
The incident happened after Cristiano Ronaldo put his team ahead in the 41st minute. The Al-Nassr players ran alongside their captain towards the corner flag to celebrate the goal. The stadium had already erupted in loud disapproval, and people were hurling abuses at CR7. However, the fans went a step ahead and decided to physically attack their rival players.

And that is exactly what happened as one miscreant from the crowd threw a bottle at the celebrating Al-Nassr players. That bottle exploded on the head of Al-Nassr midfielder Otavio. The Portuguese player went down as the players waved at the crowd to not create any trouble. Cristiano’s troubles were doubled when the Al-Ahli fans kept on chanting the name of Lionel Messi.
The barrage of bottles thrown did not stop as the Al-Nassr players’ frustration mounted. The fans rejoiced after CR7’s opener was adjudged offside by the VAR. Cristiano Ronaldo looked visibly disappointed, as it was not the first time he had encountered such a problematic situation.
Cristiano Ronaldo scores a penalty to seal a victory for his team
Leaving the chaos aside, Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr definitely put on an exciting show on matchday 24 of SPL 23/24. The two teams looked fiercely competitive on the night, as both of them didn’t look ready to back down. The match flew end-to-end, with each team having a goal canceled.
Al-Ahli caused a lot of trouble for Al-Nassr’s defense with their passing and creativity. However, Al-Ahli’s defense looked rock solid on the night, with Alex Telles putting up a splendid defensive effort. Al-Ahli defender Merih Demiral came very close to giving his team the lead after his first half-header ricocheted off the post. Al-Ahli’s onslaught on the Al-Nassr defense continued in the second half but could not bear any fruit.
Even after his first goal was disallowed, Cristiano Ronaldo still managed to find the back in the game. He duly converted his 8th penalty of the league campaign in the 67th minute as former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy failed to save the bottom-left shot.
That penalty sealed the 3 points for the visitors as they grew their lead over third-placed Al-Ahli by 9 points. However, league leaders Al-Hilal are still 12 points clear of Al-Nassr with a game in hand. Al-Nassr’s league title prospect looks bleak, considering the unstoppable form that Al-Hilal is in.
