Vincenzo La Porta, one of Italy’s most wanted criminals, has been caught on a Greek island after he was spotted celebrating his club Napoli’s win in the Serie A.
La Porta was photographed in May when he was seen celebrating his club’s win in Serie A while holding Napoli’s scarf and a baseball cap. It was, however, not enough to conceal his identity from the police authorities.
The police had been closely keeping tabs on the fugitive’s financial accounts and his close friends. Furthermore, they were also keeping a close eye on the social media posts of the Napoli fans on the Greek island as they were aware of his location and love for the soccer club.

Vincenzo La Porta reportedly made an appearance in one of such posts from the Napoli fans. Thus, the police authorities were able to map out the fugitive’s exact location on the island.
The police statement read, “The Carabinieri recognized him in a photo taken on the facade of a restaurant. He wore a baseball cap on his head, a blue scarf in his hands.” Betraying him was his passion for soccer and for the Napoli team.” The statement further added, “With the championship victory, La Porta couldn’t resist celebrating.” (via The Hill)
La Porta was listed as one of the most dangerous men in the country by the Interior Ministry. However, his love for his soccer club gave him away after years of evading the police.
Serie A champion Napoli interested in signing Barcelona player Clement Lenglet
The Italian club is now looking for a potential defender after they lost Korean player Kim Min-Jae to the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has come out as a potential replacement for the Korean center-back. Moreover, with Lenglet’s experience in La Liga and the Premier League, he could be a perfect solution for the Italian club’s back line.
Napoli are interested in signing Clement Lenglet, but the player’s desire is to sign for Tottenham. The English club and Barça have not yet reached an agreement on the transfer fee.

However, Napoli is not the only club that is interested in signing the player this summer. Other clubs have reportedly shown their interest in signing Clement Lenglet.
English club Tottenham Hotspur was heavily linked with the Barcelona defender after he spent a one-year loan deal at the London-based club. However, the Catalan club is not satisfied with the offer made for the player. Thus a permanent move to English looks difficult as of now.
Other clubs like AC Milan, Marseille, and Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have joined the race to sign the defender. However, no official bid has been made by any of the clubs.
