The FIFA World Cup has been in full swing, and fans are excited for the coming times. The countries are fighting to go all the way to take home the prestigious golden trophy. France became the first nation to qualify for the knockout stages and they are arguably one of the contenders to be the winners.
One of the most exciting moments came from a team that hasn’t played in the World Cup before. This year, they made history by qualifying for the tournament with a fairly young squad. It is none other than Alphonso Davies’ Canada.
Alphonso Davies scores first-ever World Cup goal for Canada
The Bayern Munich star will go down in Canadian history as the player to score their World Cup goal. Against Canada tonight, Davies made history for his country. He scored the game’s opening goal today, as Canada faced Croatia at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Davies has had his struggles with injuries in recent times. Despite this, he managed to find a seat on Canada’s plane to Qatar. Canada’s first game wasn’t that impressive as well. They lost to Belgium, who placed 3rd in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Alphonso has come a long way in the sport of soccer. He has made remarkable developments in his life over the years. It is no secret that he came from a refugee camp, and ended up winning a treble at Bayern. Now, he’s a FIFA World Cup goal-scorer.
Who scored the fastest goal in FIFA World Cup?
The fastest goal at this year’s World Cup was also scored by Davis. After just two minutes, he opened the scoring for Canada. It was a bullet header after he ran all the way from left back.

It has been the fastest goal of this year’s World Cup so far. The Canadian skipper just took about 70 seconds to find the back of the net. Netherlands’ Cody Gakpo sits in second place, after scoring against Ecuador in their second match of the tournament after just 6 minutes. Both countries shared a point after the game ended that night.
The game against Croatia went downhill for Canada after that. The 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists got back into the game through an equalizer from Andrej Kramaric in the 36th minute. The European country built momentum from then on and managed to add two more goals in the second half after taking the lead in the 44th minute.
