After a goalless first half and a few commendable attempts by Mexico, it took Argentina 20 minutes of the second half to open the scoring, with none other than Lionel Messi scoring.
Messi gave Argentina the lead with a left-footed finish in the bottom right corner in the 65th minute and he didn’t stop there as he assisted Argentina’s 2nd goal scored by Enzo Fernandez.

Canelo was furious with this result has predicted for his Country to reach the finals, he now sees them move to the bottom of the group with this defeat.
Is Mexico eliminated from the World Cup?
With Mexico at the bottom of Group C with one draw and one loss in their two games, they are on the cusp of being eliminated from the World Cup.
Mexico’s chances are looking bleak with El tri facing Saudi Arabia in their must-win next match. Goal difference will play a great role in their survival.
Should Poland win against Argentina and Mexico wins their match against Saudi Arabia, Mexico will qualify for the round of 16, sending Argentina back home.

If Argentina wins, Mexico will have to rely on the goal difference and will have to score 5 goals past Saudi Arabia to go above Poland in the group.
If Argentina vs Poland ends up resulting in a draw, Mexico will have to defeat Saudi Arabia by four goals to guarantee their spot in the Round of 16.
