Manchester United star Casemiro has recently opened up about his life so far in England. Casemiro’s decision to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United in a $88 million deal came as a shock to everyone. His arrival was expected to add a huge boost to United’s struggling midfield defensively. However, it is fair to say that Casemiro’s plan hasn’t gone exactly according to the plan.
During Manchester United’s recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool, Casemiro put in a performance that he would like to forget as soon as possible. Following the match, the United midfielder opened up about his struggles so far at Old Trafford. He further continued that it’s extremely difficult for him to digest the fact that his team is not in contention for winning any titles. He said, “This is the point that bothers me most about not fighting for titles. Being 20 points behind first place.” However, it’s understandable that Casemiro is having difficulty adjusting to his new club after his successful stint at Real Madrid.
At the Spanish capital, Casemiro won everything there is to be won at club level. The Brazilian midfielder won as many as five Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups, and three Club World Cups along with two La Liga titles. On the other hand, at United, Casemiro’s side has been knocked out of all European competitions this season and is currently fighting for a place in the Champions League next season.
Manchester United is reportedly planning to replace Casemiro
Despite being contracted at the club till 2027, Manchester United is reportedly already thinking of getting rid of Casemiro. The Brazilian’s performances haven’t quite matched the expectations of the club following his big-money move to England. Consistent poor performances have led to rumors that Casemiro is heading towards an early exit from Erik ten Hag’s team.
There were also rumors during the January transfer window this year about Casemiro’s exit. Moreover, Ten Hag and new club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe are reportedly looking for replacements to reinforce their struggling midfield. Besides Casemiro, United midfielder Christian Eriksen is also expected to leave the club in the summer.
Nevertheless, Manchester United will be happy with the recent performances of Kobbie Mainoo. The 18-year-old midfielder’s rise is perhaps the only silver lining in what has been a disastrous season for Manchester United. Lastly, there are rumors that United reportedly plans to sign Khephren Thuram from the French club Nice to pair alongside Mainoo for the next season.
Erik ten Hag sets some of the worst Manchester United records this season
It has been a season to forget for Manchester United and especially for Erik ten Hag. Ten Hag‘s two-year stint at United so far has been plagued with poor performances on the pitch as well as issues with players off the pitch. With United currently sitting in sixth place in the Premier League, it will be a Herculean task for Ten Hag to lead his team to Champions League qualification.
Records broken so far this season –
– Galatasaray hadn’t won a game on English soil in 117 years of existing, until Erik Ten Hag.

Moreover, statistically, this has been one of the worst seasons in the history of Manchester United. Unfortunately, the ex-Ajax coach has set some negative records that he wouldn’t look back upon fondly. Under Ten Hag, United has had the worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign since 1989. Moreover, United had never conceded as many as 23 shots on goal at Old Trafford until Ten Hag.
Under Ten Hag, United also conceded seven goals in the opening 2 Champions League group games and also lost three consecutive Champions League group games for the first time. Additionally, United also lost for the first time at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, and Brighton won two back-to-back games at Old Trafford for the first time.
