The stories about the Shakira x Gerard Pique controversy have been developing day in and day out since the couple called it quits last year and in today’s episode of the controversy, watch brand Casio has talked about their involvement in the conflict between the two stars and their relationships with Shakira and Pique.
Shakira dissed Ex-Manchester United and Barcelona player, Gerard Pique in her song with Argentine DJ Bizarrap which she released earlier this month, In this song, Shakira made an apparent diss to Pique and his new partner, Clara Chia Marti which said that Pique didn’t deserve Shakira and had chosen a Casio over a Rolex.
She had dissed Pique for downgrading from her to Clara and further said that he had left a Ferrari for a Twingo. Pique didn’t sit silent and was spotted in a Twingo car the next morning going to work which was supposedly a dig back at Shakira.
Pique was also seen distributing Casio watches at his newly formed King’s League in Spain in a Twitch Live stream. When asked about why he was doing so, he said that he had secured sponsorship from the watch brand for his King’s League and when further asked as to if he was joking about it, he said he was being serious.
After this live stream, several fake accounts of Casio tried to hop on the bandwagon and comment on the ongoing rivalry but the Casio executive put to bed any controversy regarding their role in the Shakira x Pique conflict.
Shakira, quizás no seamos un Rolex pero claramente nuestros clientes si nos son fieles.

The above tweet by a fake account of Casio translates to: “Shakira, we may not be a Rolex but clearly our customers are loyal to us.” This was one of the many tweets made up by fake accounts of Casio that tried to malign their image and troll Shakira for being cheated on by Pique.
What did Casio’s executive say about the Shakira-Pique conflict?
Now, to set the record straight about their relationship with Pique and Colombian singer, Shakira, the marketing director of Casio in Spain and Portugal, David Zuazua talked to Reason Why in an interview where he talked about it.
When asked about how and why Casio entered into a sponsorship deal with Pique’s King’s League, he straight up denied any such deal and said that Casio had not taken any side in the conflict and cleared his brand’s image as being neutral and not to get involved in such media show.

He said: “I could answer you in more detail if we had triggered that but it is not the case, I guess he got worked up since it was his first appearance. I insist that our brand positioning has always tried to be neutral and away from the media show.”
Zuazua blamed Pique for being worked up at his first appearance and talking about a deal that was never in place. He further talked about how Shakira’s song had a positive effect on their sales which he called the ‘Shakira Effect’.
He said that when the song was released, sales of Casio watches started booming spectacularly. “I can confirm that thanks to the Shakira effect, sales have been spectacular. On Saturday (72 hours after the song’s release) Casio’s sales were brutal. But the best thing is every day [sales] are much better than last year.”
So for now, the controversy between Shakira and Pique has been answered and cleared by the Casio executives, let us see now where the couple will land tomorrow in this never-ending drama.
