SUMMARY
- Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, is facing significant pressure of potential sacking.
- Julian Nagelsmann, previously hailed as one of Europe's top managers, faced a premature exit from Bayern Munich.
Thomas Tuchel is under great stress at the hot seat of Bayern Munich. The German manager has already suffered 10 losses in his 43 matches at the club and is currently on a three-match losing streak. Many experts are speculating that Tuchel might be sacked before the end of the season, which reveals a sign of a pattern that involves his predecessor, Julian Nagelsmann.
Julian Nagelsmann has slowly established himself as one of the biggest managerial names in European soccer. The German manager came onto the scene with an impressive stint with TSG Hoffenheim in 2016. He went on to manage RB Leipzig in 2019 before moving to the biggest club in Germany, Bayern Munich in 2021.
Julian Nagelsmann reveals what went wrong during his tenure at Bayern Munich
The young manager was expected to be the next long-term manager of Bayern Munich. However, those hopes were quickly squashed as Julian Nagelsmann was sacked from Bayern Munich only after 84 games. The German manager was on the hot seat at Bayern Munich for only 21 months before being replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
The German manager recently revealed in an interview with Der Spiegel what went wrong during his tenure. Nagelsmann criticized the management of the German club. He stated that he was appointed to change things at the German club and build a long-term project.
• When you received an offer from FC Bayern at the age of 33, you probably thought that you couldn’t miss an opportunity like this. But after just 21 months you were sacked. Did the task come too early for you back then?

However, in the second season of his tenure, Bayern Munich lost a nine-point lead to Dortmund in the Bundesliga. During that time, Thomas Tuchel became available, and both of these factors cost him his job at the German club. Tuchel replaced Nagelsmann and went on to win the Bundesliga ahead of Dortmund.
Nagelsmann added that the management of Bayern Munich doesn’t give coaches at Bayern Munich any time to develop something. He compared the style of the German club with that of Liverpool and Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp were given time to build something.
His successor, Thomas Tuchel is now under similar pressure after being eight points behind in the Bundesliga table in second place. Just like Nagelsmann, it is expected that Tuchel can also face sacking if the results don’t change for the better.
Julian Nagelsmann’s numbers with Bayern Munich
Julian Nagelsmann took charge of Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021. In his first season at the German club, he led them to a league title. The Munich-based club finished at 77 points with a goal difference of 60 which was impressive by the previous standards of the German club. However, the second season was the downfall where the manager was sacked in March 2023.

Nagelsmann took charge of the German club for 84 matches in all competitions, in which he won 60 matches and only lost 10. He used 40 players in his tenure and scored three goals per match in an attacking style of play. The stint with the German club allowed the manager to land the job of the German national team in September 2023. He is currently preparing to take charge of the team in the Euro 2024 where Germany is the host.
