Cristiano Ronaldo has created a huge buzz after moving to Al-Nassr after spending a month as a free agent. His eternal rival Lionel Messi might have won the World Cup last month but in terms of popularity, Leo’s World Cup glory fades away in front of Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest club switch.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi Arabian outfit after a hugely controversial fallout with his former club Manchester United. The Portuguese went to the World Cup as a free agent and Al-Nassr was the most interested in terms of landing his signature. On December 30, Ronaldo signed the most expensive deal in soccer history with the Saudi Club.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s signing was made official by the club’s social media accounts. Ronaldo will earn a reported $214 million in Al-Nassr, in a contract of two and a half years. The Portuguese arrived at the Saudi capital last week ahead of his medical. The Mrsool Park was Housefull to embrace their new superstar number 7. Later on, he attended a press conference where he answered his critics and talked about his ambitions to join Al-Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo is at the twilight end of his playing career but any news related to him attracts worldwide soccer fans. The 37-year-old is the most marketable name in the entire sport and he proved it again with his latest move to the Saudi club.

The 25,000 people in Mrsool Park erupted in ecstasy as soon as Ronaldo walked onto the pitch wearing Al-Nassr’s yellow and blue with his trademark number 7 on the back. According to Spanish journalist Pedro Sepulveda, the Portuguese superstar’s opening ceremony at the Saudi club racked up more views than Leo Messi’s World Cup-winning match.

Sepulveda said that the ceremony reached “3 billion views on 40 channels around the world.” However, the Spanish journalist also added if the World Cup final was shown on these many channels, it would have surpassed Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr unveiling.

Cristiano Ronaldo, however, has to serve a two-match ban handed by FA back in his time at Manchester United. The Portuguese was working out gym in a 2-0 league match win of Al-Nassr against Al-Tae. Ronaldo will make his debut on 21st January against Ettifaq. Conclusively, Cristiano Ronaldo showed that he can have all the eyes of the media and soccer fans in whatever he does.
