Cristiano Ronaldo congratulates the Portuguese women’s team on qualifying for the upcoming women’s World Cup!
Portugal’s women’s national soccer team will play in the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. They played Cameroon in the qualifiers final on February 2022 and beat them 2-1. Diana Gomes scored the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute of the first half. The team was cruising to a comfortable victory until the 89th minute when Cameroon equalized. It looked like the match was going to extra time.
With both teams desperately trying to clinch a winner, it was an immensely entertaining watch! Portugal dominated the match completely with 63% of the possession. The Portuguese women also registered 20 shots on the Cameroonian goal with 5 shots on target. However, Cameroon played a counter-attacking style of soccer and had 4 shots on target with 7 shots in total.

After Diana Gomes’s goal, it seemed like Portugal’s team was all but through to the World Cup group stages. But Ajara Njoya Nchout scored an 89th-minute goal to bring Cameroon back into the tie. Despite their best efforts, Cameroon just could not withhold Portugal’s barrage of attacks.
