Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is known as a perfectionist. He maintains his body like it is his temple with an immaculate diet and the healthiest of habits. So much so that his sleep is not compromised at all. However, this leads to a different type of compromise. He has to sleep alone instead of sleeping with his partner Georgina Rodriguez.
As revealed by Oh My Goal on YouTube, Ronaldo sleeps alone on nights before big games. It is important for him to have good sleep to perform at his level best on the big days.
Nick Littlehales, a sleep expert who worked at Manchester United and a former collaborator of Ronaldo, said to GQ Mexico in November 2020, “Cristiano Ronaldo is a body perfectionist. For him, being in top form is an obsession.”
He revealed further vivid details about Ronaldo’s sleeping pattern. The Portuguese either sleeps alone away from Rodriguez or in a large bed so he’s not ‘disturbed’. Ronaldo sleeps in the fetal position. This helps in guaranteeing the best positioning of his bones and organs. He also sleeps on a very special mattress. The mattress is reinforced by 4-inch thick latex foam.
Cristiano Ronaldo follows a siesta sleeping schedule instead of traditional
Another noticeable thing about Ronaldo’s sleeping pattern is that he does not follow the traditional pattern of sleeping once for eight hours. Instead, he follows a siesta sleeping schedule. Ronaldo sleeps for 90 minutes five times a day.
Littlehales spoke to The Independent back in 2017, he said: “Anyone who has ever worked with Ronaldo knows that if you have a discussion in the corner of the room, he will come over and ask what you are talking about.
“I was invited to Real Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti became manager.
“I was standing on the edge of the training pitch, talking to the Madrid staff, when Ronaldo ran over.”
“He had been training all day and you would have expected him to run straight to the dressing room for a shower but he asked what we were discussing.”
“He was interested in what I was trying to do because as an athlete he has always invested in himself.”
“From what I have learned from working with him, Ronaldo is not interested in fad diets, he is not interested in copying others.”
“The only thing he is concerned with is: does it work for him?”

With how Ronaldo has turned up on most of the big occasions it is fair to say this sleeping routine has worked for him. Ronaldo is sometimes also known as one of the greatest clutch soccer players of all time. His winning mentality always keeps him at the top of his game.
