Cristiano Ronaldo’s career has been on a downward spiral since the start of this season after being benched by Erik ten Hag at Manchester United before eventually terminating his contract with the club before the World Cup. The Portuguese has been dealt with another blow as he wasn’t named in the top 15 of the FIFA The Best awards held recently.
Adding insult to this injury was Cristiano’s biggest rival, Lionel Messi who was awarded with The Best award for his brilliant performance last year winning the World Cup and the Golden Ball.
Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho and Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni had seemingly posted about the recent happenings on their Facebook accounts and both shared their feelings toward Cristiano and said that was the real GOAT even if he didn’t win the award.

This had led to some positivity in the Ronaldo fans camp as they believed that the two youngsters know who is the best player of all time but they have been left shocked after realizing that both of these accounts are fake and aren’t actually Garnacho and Tchouameni.
Lionel Messi won The Best award with a clear majority and his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe finished second after scoring a hat trick in the World Cup final against Argentina. Cristiano’s former teammates Karim Benzema and Luka Modric finished 3rd and 4th respectively after winning the UCL and La Liga with Real Madrid last year.
Facebook’s paid verification system wreaks havoc, and Cristiano Ronaldo fans are the first victims
Social media app Facebook recently announced its paid verification system and it has already started messing with people with the first being Ronaldo fans. We went to Twitter to see how they reacted after knowing Garnacho and Tchouameni’s accounts were fake:
We noticed a Ronaldo fan who wasn’t able to comprehend how the accounts could be fake as they both had blue ticks. Both Garnacho and Tchouameni have mentioned their liking for Cristiano previously so fans took the bait after fake accounts posted.
They wrote: “Both of them are verified”

Another fan took a jibe at fans of Lionel Messi and stated that even posts from fake accounts managed to irritate Messi fans as they spewed hate comments on both posts particularly Garnacho’s as he is Argentine.
The fan wrote: “Even fake pages have managed to rattle messi fans 😭😭”

Another Cristiano Ronaldo fan was seemingly trying to hide his frustration and stated that even though the accounts that posted this were fake, the statements mentioned in their posts were correct.
They wrote: “We don’t care if the accounts are fake or not, but the statements are true.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit the ground running with his new club Al-Nassr as he recently won the Saudi Pro League player of the month for February after scoring 8 goals and bagging 4 assists in 4 games. His fanboy and former Man Utd teammate Garnacho won his first senior trophy as Man Utd lifted the Carabao Cup.
