Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal celebration against Al-Shabab has caused a huge stir among fans. They are speculating about Ronaldo’s religion. Has he become a Muslim?
After scoring the third goal for Al-Nassr on the night, Ronaldo completed a terrific comeback for the Saudi Pro League side. However, what is remembered most about the goal is the celebration. Ronaldo was surrounded by his teammates after he scored the goal and they celebrated together. After making a little place for himself, Ronaldo performed a ‘sajdah’.

In Islam, a sajdah or sujud is the act of prostration to Allah (God). It is a common sight in Muslim prayers. People who follow Islam pray to God while bowing down in a sajdah. Many Muslim soccer players have been seen doing it after scoring including Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. It is also a common sight in the Saudi Pro League as it is a Muslim-dominated country. However, a non-Muslim doing it is quite an uncommon sight.
This has made fans wonder about Cristiano Ronaldo’s religion. However, no official communication says anything about Ronaldo changing his religion. He is still a very spiritual person and is a roman catholic much like the majority of his home country Portugal.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner in a thrilling comeback for Al-Nassr
Al-Nassr’s title hopes were all but lost when they were down by two goals in the first 40 minutes. Cristian Guanca of Al-Shabab scored a penalty in the 25th minute and scored another goal in the 40th minute to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Brazilian Anderson Talisca, however, did not let Al-Shabab take that lead into half-time. He pulled a goal back just in time to help Al-Nassr go into the break with a one-goal deficit.
In the 51st minute, it was Abdulrahman Ghareeb who leveled the match with a finish from six yards out. It was the Portuguese soccer star who applied the finishing touch to his team’s comeback with a goal in the 59th minute. Al-Nassr won the match 3-2.
