Ronaldo’s move was highly unexpected as he left the Spanish giants after winning his fifth UEFA Champions League title. Juventus signed the Portuguese star for a huge sum of $117 million. However, as per reports, Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to end his career in Italy.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-girlfriend, Letizia Filippi, has recently revealed that Ronaldo had initially planned to hang up his boots in Italy. According to The Things, Filippi claimed that Ronaldo had always wanted to play in Serie A. During the time of Ronaldo’s big-money move to Juventus, Filippi made the revelation about the Al-Nassr star’s desire.

Letizia said, “During our relationship, he repeatedly confided his will to end his career in our league. I think Juve is absolutely the right team for Cristiano: it is one of the most noble and important clubs.” Filippi and Ronaldo’s love story dates back to 2008 when the couple dated for six to seven months. There’s not much known about the Italian model, except that she was accused of recruiting escorts for the former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.
How did Cristiano Ronaldo perform in Italy?
Cristiano Ronaldo’s eye-watering move to Juventus was rejoiced by many Italian soccer fans. The Portuguese captain tore up the Serie A during his brief stay in Italy. Ronaldo played for Juventus from 2018 to 2021. Just after the start of the 2021-22 season, he left the Italian side to join his former club, Manchester United.
In his 134 appearances for Juventus, Ronaldo scored 101 goals and provided 20 assists. Ronaldo became the second-fastest player to score 100 goals for Juventus by achieving the feat in just 131 games. He also became the only soccer player to score 100 goals for three different clubs and his national team. During his three-year spell at the club, Ronaldo won 5 trophies, including two Serie A titles.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo failed to win the UEFA Champions League title with Juventus. After joining the club, Ronaldo promised the Juventus fans to give them the Champions League title. However, the closest Ronaldo came to winning the title with Juventus was when his side lost to Ajax in the 2018-19 season in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
However, Ronaldo did score a memorable hat trick for Juventus against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The former Real Madrid star scored 14 goals for the Italian side, 7 of which came in the knockout stages. Only Alessandro Del Piero has more knockout stage goals for Juventus in the Champions League, despite playing 19 seasons in comparison to Ronaldo’s 3.
