Cristiano Ronaldo is regarded as one of the best players that the soccer world has ever seen. It’s fair to say he might have been called ‘the’ best player if not for a certain Lionel Messi. The Argentine has been Ronaldo’s biggest rival throughout his career.
Ronaldo doesn’t seem to leave the comparison made with Lionel Messi by the fans even after moving out of Europe. Ronaldo went to Saudi club Al-Nassr earlier this year where he recently scored a brilliant freekick.
The Portuguese soccer player scored a 35-yard screamer against the bottom-half side, Abha, in the Saudi Pro League. It didn’t take much time for the fans to compare it with Lionel Messi’s stunning free-kick against Liverpool years ago.

Messi scored one of the best free kicks of his career in the UCL semi-final against Liverpool in the 1st leg back in 2019. Even though the result of the tie didn’t go his team’s way, the goal was one to remember.
And it seems like it has not been forgotten. Fans started comparing this freekick to Ronaldo’s. Cristiano scored a free kick through the wall leaving the goalkeeper with no chance from 35 yards out. This was his first freekick for his new club as he has scored some memorable freekicks for his previous clubs.
The comparison between the two legends has been inevitable for their fans. And even though it seemed like the rivalry might be over after Ronaldo’s transfer, it doesn’t seem likely.
Cristiano Ronaldo inspires Al-Nassr’s comeback victory
Ronaldo scored this memorable free kick in an important clash against Abha as Al-Nassr continue their pursuit of the title. Abha got the lead inside the first half an hour of the game and Al-Nassr was chasing the lead for most of the match.
They restored the scoreline through Ronaldo’s brilliant free kick that seemed to inspire the Riyadh club as they went on to win the match. They scored twice in the last 15 minutes of the game through set pieces.

It was Anderson Talisca who scored the match-winner through a penalty in the 86th minute. The move surprised the fans as Cristiano didn’t take the penalty and instead gave it to Talisca but they would be happy as their team came out as the winners.
Al-Nassr had earlier entered the game 4 points behind league leaders Al-Ittihad. The win meant that they restored the gap to only 1 point as they would want to win the title for a 9th time.
