Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo left the fans a bit puzzled and scared with his recent facial expression following his post-match interview after Barcelona’s epic comeback against Celta Vigo.
Barcelona faced Celta Vigo in a recent La Liga encounter which ended in a thrilling 3-2 victory for the Catalan giants. Thanks to a brace from the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and a late winner goal from Joao Cancelo, Barcelona managed to pull an impressive comeback.
However, Cancelo’s expression during the post-match interview stole the show. At the start of the interview, Cancelo was asked a question, and to demonstrate that he was listening, he stretched his eyes wide open as if to make sure he was hearing every word clearly. He had no idea that this amusing but unsettling action would instantly go viral on social media.

With a hint of humor, one fan commented, “Get him in Conjuring 3!” in reference to the well-known horror film series.
Another fan remarked, “He was just practising for Halloween, that’s all,” highlighting the unintentional spookiness of Cancelo’s expression.
However, if we’re talking about on-field performance, Joao Cancelo adapted quickly to his new team. He has undoubtedly had a good start since coming to Barcelona on loan from Manchester City for the 2023–24 season. He made a significant contribution in each of Barcelona’s first three matches against the Spanish team, which included two victories in La Liga and one in the UEFA Champions League.
Joao Cancelo faced a test of his adaptability during a turbulent performance against Celta Vigo
Joao Cancelo, who is renowned for his adaptability and capacity to contribute both defensively and offensively, struggled during Barcelona’s most recent 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companies. Due to his inability to respond to Celta Vigo’s attack and subsequent failure to have a significant impact going forward, fans became irate and alarmed.

Cancelo openly acknowledged his difficulties in a post-game interview, saying “I was lost in the game. I made many technical errors that are not normal in my game. I had to improve and turn things around.”
Cancelo’s performance did alter as the game progressed and Barcelona’s fortunes started to change. He played a key role in Barcelona’s comeback by first assisting Robert Lewandowski on the equalizer and later scoring the game-winning goal himself. It was a remarkable turn of events for a player who had previously received criticism.
