In the last couple of days, there have been reports of Cristiano Ronaldo offering his hotel to support the victims of the Morocco earthquake. The world has been left stunned over the last few days by the horrific earthquake that has plagued Morocco. However, it appears as if the reports about Cristiano Ronaldo’s noble gesture are not true.
Cristiano Ronaldo‘s hotel in Marrakesh, the Pestana CR7, was rumored to be a shelter for the survivors of the earthquake. Ronaldo’s gesture earned him a lot of adulation from his fans. However, a spokesperson of the hotel has claimed that these rumors aren’t true. The spokesperson said, “This is false information. All the customers we have at the moment have made a reservation normally.”

The International Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has donated $1 million. Moreover, countries like Spain, the US, France, Turkey, and so on are sending foreign aid to Morocco. The Moroccan national team players have been also donating blood to support the victims of the natural calamity. Lionel Messi also recently offered his prayers of support and condolences to the people who have lost their lives.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s previous philanthropic works
While Cristiano Ronaldo may not have provided his hotel as shelter to the victims of the Morocco earthquake, the singular incident doesn’t do justice to his past philanthropic pursuits. The Al-Nassr star is known for often donating generously to humanitarian causes. Back in 2015, Ronaldo was placed first on the ‘Top 20 Athletes Gone Good’ list.
He’s also previously sold his European Golden Boot award and his 2013 Ballon d’Or award at charity auctions. He is also the ambassador of three prominent charities, Unicef, Save the Children, and World Vision. Moreover, the former Real Madrid star also regularly donates blood, for which he has refused to get any tattoos. During the 2015 Nepalese earthquake, he donated a huge sum to help the victims.
In addition to this, Cristiano Ronaldo had donated around $1 million to the hospitals in Portugal during the time of the coronavirus pandemic. He had also reportedly urged his Portuguese teammates to give up half of their bonuses to help provide relief to those who were plagued by the pandemic.
