The post further signifies that although there are no injury-related worries associated with the 28-year-old forward, he has been judged not fully fit enough to join his teammates at the first-team training. With Martial not being able to start games often for United this season, his exclusion from the club’s training by United’s manager Erik ten Hag could further dampen his chances of getting back in the starting 11.
Manchester United do not wish to extend Anthony Martial’s contract
As per a report by ‘utdreport’ on ‘X’, the Red Devils’ hierarchy does not wish to extend Martial’s current contract at the club. His contract has an option for extending the duration of his stay at the Old Trafford. However, reports signify that the club is not in favor of triggering it.

The 28-year-old striker’s contract at United will expire by the end of the current 2023-2024 Premier League season. After the season ends, he will be a free agent in the next summer transfer window. A report by ‘The Athletic’ further inflicts that the English club is open to letting him leave as a free agent. However, they are in a position to listen to any adequate offers for him in this January window.
The performances of Anthony Martial in the 2023-2024 season so far for Manchester United
Martial had a below-par 2023-2024 season for the Red Devils till now. In England’s top-flight soccer, the Premier League, he has only made 13 appearances for the club out of the 21 matches played by United. However, he has only featured in the starting lineup 24% of the time.
In the 13 games played by him, he has only managed to score one goal and further assisted one. The number nine featured in four Champions League encounters for United. He managed one assist during these appearances. He was mostly used only as a substitute in the Champions League this season.
Martial started both the Carabao Cup games for Manchester United this season. He even managed to score a goal. However, Erik ten Hag didn’t seem to fancy him when it comes to the Premier League.
