Erling Haaland raised the alarm bells for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola when the striker played against Faroe Islands for Norway. The in-form striker suffered an ankle injury after coming on for a cameo in the second half in a 2-0 win.
Norway confirmed that Erling Haaland will be out for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland. However, Fabrizio Romano brought some good news for the Manchester City fans. He tweeted an update on ‘X’: “Understand Erling Haaland’s injury is not serious and he will be fit for City vs Liverpool. Haaland will not risk to play vs Scotland after his problem but he’ll be regularly back for Man City.”
The exclusion from Norway’s squad is a sensible decision since Scotland and Spain have already qualified for the 2024 Euro from Group A. On the other hand, Manchester City faces Liverpool in their upcoming Premier League fixture, which can prove to be critical for their title ambitions.

Ståle Solbakken, Norway’s manager, explained Haaland’s situation: “It’s the movement in his foot that is the problem but it’s not a serious injury. Had it been a final, I don’t know (if he would have been fit to play). All parties agree it is probably a little too early (for him to play) but it is not a career-threatening injury.”
Many argued that Haaland’s involvement in the match against Faroe Islands wasn’t needed. However, Solbakken added that It was Haaland’s choice to be involved in the game. He wanted to play 45 minutes to keep his momentum going in a week when he didn’t train as much.
Erling Haaland’s injury record
Haaland’s injury record has been improving since his days in Germany with Dortmund. The striker had a poor injury record back in 2020 which was a cause of concern for many, but that hasn’t been the case with Manchester City.
Since his move to England, Haaland has only missed five games for club and country with injuries. Including the latest setback, he has only four injuries since 2022. In comparison, during his time in Germany, Haaland suffered eight different injuries and missed 33 games for club and country.

There can be multiple factors that have helped in improving the injury record of Haaland. Since his switch to England, the striker has improved his physical attributes. The training and medical team at Manchester City is also regarded as one of the best in England, which surely helped their star player.
In the current season, Haaland has scored 17 goals in 18 matches in all competitions. He is the biggest threat in the attack for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola is breathing easy, hearing this injury update about his star striker, as they prepare to face Liverpool on November 25.
