Luis Rubiales has come under fire for his recent actions during the celebration of the Spanish National team’s historic 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup win. Soccer governing body FIFA has provisionally suspended Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales. The president would be suspended from any soccer-related activities at both national and international levels.
The statement said, “The chairman of the Fifa Disciplinary Committee, Jorge Ivan Palacio (Colombia), in use of the powers granted by article 51 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code (FDC), has decided today to provisionally suspend Mr. Luis Rubiales from all football-related activities at national and international level.”

The FIFA statement further continued, “This suspension, which will be effective as of today, is for an initial period of 90 days, pending the disciplinary proceedings opened against Mr. Luis Rubiales on Thursday, August 24.”
Moreover, Luis Rubiales and the RFEF have been ordered to refrain from contacting Jenni Hermoso during the proceedings of the investigation. Things took a turn for worse after Rubiales refused to resign from his position. The FA President forced a non-consensual kiss on Jenni Hermoso.

Furthermore, The Spanish National team has refused to return under the current leaders. This was after the Spanish FA threatened to sue Hermoso and her teammates for spreading a false narrative against Rubiales.
Jenni Hermoso releases a strong statement against Luis Rubiales
The former Barcelona Femeni star has released an official statement against the Spanish FA President after she was falsely accused of consenting to the kiss.
Hermoso shared, “I feel obligated to state that the words that Mr. Luis Rubiales has used to explain the unfortunate incident are categorically false and part of the manipulative culture that he has created himself.”
“I want to make clear that not at the moment did the conversation occur in which Mr. Luis Rubiales references and that, much less, that his kiss was consensual. I want to reiterate like I did in that moment that this incident was not pleasant for me.”

She went on, “I feel the need to denounce this as I think that no one, in no work environment, sporting or social, should be a victim to this type of unconsensual behavior. I felt vulnerable and a victim of aggression, an impulsive act, sexist, out of place, and without any type of consent from myself.”
The former PSG Femeni player went on to describe how disrespected she felt in his whole ordeal and how one of the happiest moments in her life was tainted with something like this. In conclusion, she has refused to return to the national team as long as Luis Rubiales holds a position in the Spanish Federation.
