World Cup 2022 was in news for its brilliant games on the field as well as controversies regarding the host nation, Qatar, that marred the tournament with criticism coming from various quarters towards the treatment of migrant workers by Qatar and their stance on LGBTQ+.
Caught amidst the controversy was FIFA President Gianni Infantino who has been accused of taking money from the Qatar authorities to let them host the tournament recently the criticism has gone to a whole new level as a controversial statue showcasing Infantino was revealed in the German city, Frankfurt.
Gianni Infantino has previously defended Qatar for how it hosted the World Cup and has called the western countries hypocrites for accusing the country of human rights violations while they have been doing it for centuries.

He said: “This moral lesson-giving — one-sided — is just hypocrisy. I don’t want to give you any lessons of life, but what is going on here is profoundly, profoundly unjust. For what we Europeans have been doing for the last 3,000 years we should apologize for the next 3,000 years before starting giving moral lessons to people.”
Gianni referred to the tournament as one of the best as it saw several underdogs upsetting favorites with the biggest of them being Morocco’s run to the semi-finals. The tournament had a thrilling end in one of the, if not the best World Cup ever after Argentina defeated France on penalties as Lionel Messi lifted the World Cup.
Germany’s attack on Gianni Infantino fails
We went to Twitter to take a look at how the fans reacted to the statue:
It seems like the fans have got the back of President Infantino as they believed that the World Cup in Qatar was one of the best and German fans are just jealous of the success of the Arabs for hosting the tournament successfully amid huge controversies.
A fan wrote: “It was the best version of the World Cup. Unfortunately, their minds are jealous of the success of others, and they still believe that they are the best. The world has changed and preference has become for those who offer the best.”

Another fan stated that Germany is just salty about the World Cup because they couldn’t do well in the tournament. Germany was knocked out in the group stages of the tournament for the second consecutive time as they were handed an upset by Japan who leaped past the former Champions to qualify for the knockouts along with Spain.
The fan wrote: “Germans still salty they weren’t able to be apart of the best World Cup in modern day history for longer”

Traveling fans were very impressed by the arrangements made by the Qatar authorities and the peaceful atmosphere in the country which ensured that no brawls take place, unlike previous tournaments. A fan even went on to say that western countries should never again be allowed to host a World Cup.
A fan wrote: “Qatar had the best word cup ever !!! People didn’t get humiliated over visa applications and the traveled without complaints. I hope Europe and the Americas don’t get to host in the near future”

It is quite clear that the fans have come in support of FIFA President Gianni Infantino who has been criticized for a long time to favor the Arab country as Qatar is trying to upscale its stakes in soccer after announcing a bid for Premier League club Manchester United.
