Argentine shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez is one of the main characters of the country’s World Cup glory in 2022. The former Arsenal goalkeeper was phenomenal throughout the tournament as his nation marched all the way up to the finals.
However, fans would never have seen Martinez on the pitch again if the results of the tournament were any different.
According to reports, Martinez has recently stated that he would have left soccer if his side hadn’t won the trophy that night in Qatar on December 18, 2022. In a recent interview, the shot-stopper said, “I would not have agreed to play football again if we had lost that final against France.”
The Albiceleste goalkeeper played a pivotal role in the nation’s final showdown against France as well. His super save against French striker Randal Kolo-Muani, in the 123rd minute of the match kept the World Cup hopes alive.

Romero’s match against the Gunners was not that good. Tottenham conceded two goals and in both cases, Romero was involved. The first one came as an own goal.
Arsenal‘s Bukayo Saka’s shot was deflected by Romero’s legs and went past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The next one was in the second in form of a penalty that the referee awarded Arsenal because of the handball committed by the Argentine defender.
