PSG star Achraf Hakimi has been accused of r*pe and the soccer world has been sent into a frenzy ever since reports emerged. It is not the first time a high-profile soccer player has been accused of such a crime. The most recent example that we could all think of would be Mason Greenwood, who was accused of sexual assault by Harriet Robson.
As for Hakimi, reports say that a 23-year-old woman alleged Hakimi r*ped her at his home in Paris. This certainly has come as a huge shock, mainly because fans believed Hakimi to be a family fan. As per sources, the victim first conversed with Hakimi through Instagram on January 16. They met on February 25 after the player sent an Uber to pick the victim up.

Recently, Hakimi’s mother released a statement. She addressed the allegations of her son and her statement has caused a huge uproar among soccer fans. She said, “My heart tells me that my son is innocent and has a good education.“He doesn’t deserve what happened to him. I asked him about the case, and he swore to me that he was innocent.”

This didn’t go down too well with fans, who even seemed to compare Greenwood’s situation with Hakimi’s. A fan simply wrote, “If he swore to his mother that he’s innocent but is actually guilty, he’s the worst.” For some context, the general opinion among fans is that men are far more comfortable with their mothers than women. This leads to a more transparent and honest relationship with their mothers.
The young women also deleted her Instagram account but still gave the investigators her messages with Achraf Hakimi, messages that Hakimi also had. Away from the mother of his children, it was Hakimi who had started the discussions several weeks earlier. [@lequipe]

According to multiple reports, the alleged victim deleted her social media accounts after the reports came to light. Many claim that she mentions Hakimi started the conversation first and offered to meet at a Paris restaurant or an establishment. The woman reportedly declined this but the pair met at a later date.
The investigation is still ongoing, and Hakimi would have the opportunity to plead his case. Whatever the case, this surely does not help his reputation and career, which will be at stake if he’s guilty.
