Lionel Messi has finally won the only trophy that has eluded him throughout his entire career. He got his hands on the World Cup trophy and let himself loose with the celebrations.
Argentina began the tournament with a shock 2-1 loss against Saudi Arabia. Since that shock, Argentina went through the whole tournament almost perfectly. They beat every upcoming hurdle with quality, determination, and a hunger to win. They did stumble here and there a bit on the road to the final but always managed to stand up in the end.
The former World Champions France was the final hurdle in front of the Albiceleste. Argentina’s hunger to win proved again a bit too much for Les Bleus. A comfortable 2-0 lead till the 70th minute in the final is almost an assured win.
French starman Kylian Mbappe, however, had other ideas. He scored two in two minutes to take the match to extra time. Leo Messi and Mbappe again scored in the extra time to take the scoreline 3-3. However, Argentina held their nerves and won it 4-2.
Argentina finally reclaimed their name on the biggest trophy for the third time in history. The celebration followed by the win was understandably wild. All the players and supporters of the winning team started their celebrations with their loved ones.
It was only the start of the celebration of what was a massively joyous moment for the soccer fans. The nation of Argentina started their celebrations as soon as Montiel slotted the deciding penalty. The World Champions arrived at their homeland and received a hero’s welcome.

The Champs landed at the Buenos Aries airport at 3 AM local time but the nation was ready to welcome them at that hour as well. Lionel Messi came out first from the team plane with the trophy and the fans erupted with happiness. The celebrations continued from there as well. Messi posted a picture of himself sleeping with the World Cup trophy that went viral across social media.

The Champions took an open bus parade to celebrate with their fellow Argentineans. The bus parade was called off in the middle due to the heavy presence of the crowd. Presidential spokesperson Gabriella Cerutti said, “The World Champions are flying over the parade route on helicopters because it was impossible to continue on the ground due to the explosion of popular joy,” on how many people turned up to congratulate the Champions.

A grand celebration like this cannot start or end without booze. All the team members celebrated with each other by consuming alcohol on the bus parade. Lionel Messi and Scaloni were celebrating together and they looked extremely drunk and obviously very happy as well.
Lionel Messi is a gentleman of the sport. He always keeps himself out of doing anything which can be considered too much. The World Cup winner let himself completely loose this time and the fans were happy to see their idol having fun. Yesterday a picture of Messi and his wife Antonela surfaced. Antonela was driving the car because Messi was too drunk to drive. Twitter reacted to it very lightheartedly and had fun with it.

So unstable that he was holding onto the dashboard to ensure the car was balanced.

This was not the first time Messi was drunk during celebrations. In 2011, Barcelona beat Manchester United in the Champions League final after a tough previous season. In less than 24 hours of winning the final, the Spanish giants booked an open-topped bus and celebrated in the city. Neymar and Messi were drunk at that time as well and went stumbling up on the bus. Letting yourself loose occasionally to celebrate doesn’t hurt anybody and even the nicest people sometimes need to let go and celebrate their hearts out.
