Cristiano Ronaldo has always been at loggerheads with the media for portraying him in a negative light throughout his career but in a video from the past that has gone viral recently, Ronaldo could be seen upset even with the governing body of soccer, FIFA.
The video has gone viral in the last couple of days owing to Lionel Messi winning the FIFA ‘The Best’ award for 2022 which was his 2nd after the award started in 2016. In the video, Ronaldo can be heard saying: “Speak about FIFA, I don’t care about FIFA, I don’t give f*** about FIFA.”
Messi winning the award didn’t go down well with some of the Ronaldo fans who thought that the Argentine was favored just because of the World Cup while he didn’t do much in the rest of the year with his club PSG failing to win the UEFA Champions League.

Lionel Messi won the award with a clear majority ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, and Luka Modric while his compatriots Emi Martinez and Lionel Scaloni won the Best Goalkeeper and the Best Head Coach awards respectively as Argentina swept the ceremony.
Ronaldo was the inaugural winner of the award winning it in 2016 beating Messi while he also won it the next year in 2017, this time sweeping aside his Argentine rival with a clear-cut majority but the Portuguese hasn’t won the award ever since and it seems like his fans are upset over his treatment by FIFA.
Why did Cristiano Ronaldo give up his voting right at FIFA ‘The Best’ awards?
In a surprising turn of events, Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t participate in the casting of votes for the FIFA award as he was supposed to be the captain of the Portugal national team. He gave his voting right to former Real Madrid teammate, Pepe, as Ronaldo was mostly confined on the bench for Portugal at the World Cup.
Pepe took on the responsibility from Ronaldo and voted for French superstar Kylian Mbappe and his former teammates, Luka Modric, and Karim Benzema. This meant that not only was Ronaldo outside the shortlist of the award for the first time but he was also away from the whole process.

Ronaldo started all three of Portugal’s group games in Qatar but was substituted off in each of them while he was benched in the knockout game against Switzerland where his replacement Goncalo Ramos scored a hat trick, he was also kept on the bench for the quarter-final against Morocco which Portugal lost.
Ronaldo announced his transfer to Al-Nassr soon after the World Cup and has regained form recently winning the Best Player of the Month in the Saudi Pro League for February after some stellar performances.
