Soccer star Angel Di Maria has revealed the painful sacrifice he had to make for Lionel Messi. Di Maria is one of the best Argentine soccer players of his generation alongside Messi.
Messi‘s stardom often makes Di Maria’s contribution to Argentine soccer go unnoticed. However, it would be wrong to not acknowledge Di Maria’s crucial role in helping Messi achieve success with the national team.
Di Maria is the only Argentine player to have scored in the finals of every major tournament the South American giants have won recently. His goals have come in the Olympic Games final in 2008, his winner against Brazil in the Copa America 2021 final, and a goal against Italy in the Finalissima. Di Maria also scored Argentina’s second goal against France in the World Cup 2022 final.
Di Maria recently appeared in an interview with the Argentine journalist Sofi Martinez. During the interview, Di Maria said, “The best thing that happened in my career is that I played with Leo Messi in the national team and club.” El Fideo, as he is affectionately nicknamed, also talked about how he willingly sacrificed his playing time at PSG after Messi arrived at the club in 2021.
