Lionel Messi might reportedly be reunited with his familiar foe at Inter Miami. Messi, who joined Inter Miami this year, was accompanied by his former FC Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. However, according to recent reports, Real Madrid’s talismanic midfielder Luka Mordic is rumored to join Messi’s club next year.
According to the Croatian news outlet the Dubrovnik Times, Inter Miami is trying to sign Luka Modric next year. The Real Madrid star would be a huge boost to the already improved Inter Miami side. Since Messi, Busquets, and Alba joined the club, Inter Miami has experienced a never-seen-before surge in fame. The club recently won its first title, the Leagues Cup, and will get a shot at their second title tomorrow in the US Open Cup final.

Signing Modric, however, might prove to be a Herculean task for the Herons. The club will find it difficult to adjust Modric’s salary to MLS’ salary cap regulations. However, club co-owner David Beckham is expected to use his Real Madrid connections to lure the Croatian star to his team. Moreover, it will be interesting to see whether the Spanish giants would want to part with their star midfielder.
Luka Modric signed a contract extension this year which will see him remain at the club till next summer. However, the 38-year-old star has seen his game time get limited this season. In addition to this, Real Madrid have signed Jude Bellingham this summer, who is proving to be a great acquisition for the club. Thus, fans will have to wait and see whether Luka Modric decides to Lionel Messi‘s club in 2024.
Lionel Messi’s former teammate might join him at Inter Miami
Besides Luka Modric, Lionel Messi’s former FC Barcelona teammate Antoine Griezmann has also been linked with a move to Inter Miami in recent times. Griezmann and Messi shared the pitch during the French forward’s brief stint at the Catalan club. However, signing Griezmann would be even tougher for Inter Miami.
The French star’s current contract at Atletico Madrid is set to expire in 2026. However, it has been reported that Griezmann wants to move to a league where there won’t be much pressure. The Atletico Madrid star has previously admitted that he would like to play in the United States. However, only time will tell whether Inter Miami can secure both Modric and Griezmann’s move next year.
