American YouTuber and avid soccer fan, IShowSpeed, sparked concern among fans after uploading a distressing video on YouTube. Also known as Darren Watkins Jr, the 18-year-old captured the video aboard an ambulance, leaving fans worried about his bulging right eye. Shortly after it went live, Speed was hospitalized in Japan, briefly leaving users online in the dark about his condition.
The video in focus was simply titled with the heartbreak emoji, indicating that something was extremely wrong. The Ohio native was in evident distress, with intense swelling in his eye and a loose wrap around his head. He went on to give fans an update on his situation, “I don’t know what I have. I’m about to go to surgery right now. My eyes puffing up, it feels like a stab, it feels like someone’s stabbing my eye with a knife.”
He continued, “Right now, I have one of the worst experiences I am having right now. I can’t even open up my eyes. I have this thing called a cluster headache. A deadly headache disease. I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I can’t do anything right now.” The YouTuber’s condition led to speculation about the possibility of eye surgery. The video also attracted messages of support from fans worldwide.
Since the video’s upload, numerous developments have followed, including some comments from his father. Darren Watkins Sr stated that Speed is doing “much better”, and that he got himself “taken care of”. Recent updates on his condition have been fairly positive.
Update on IShowSpeed’s condition
After being hospitalized, IShowSpeed was briefly discharged yesterday. However, he appears to have been admitted once again. Fortunately, the reason behind this has to do with some necessary tests, as opposed to emergency surgery. These updates were provided by a member of the group currently with Speed in Japan.
As stated by him, the social media star has been diagnosed with a ‘really bad’ sinus infection. And there are currently no signs of long-term trouble.
