The people at Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, look very pleased to have the 23-year-old. The English talent was phenomenal for ‘the black and yellows’ during his stay at the club from 2018-21. The period saw Sancho winning multiple titles like the DFB Pokal and the DFL Supercup. It is safe to say, that Dortmund is hoping for a repetition of the same when the club brought the Englishman on loan in the January 2024 transfer window.
Jadon Sancho reportedly had offers from a lot of clubs. He was linked with moves to Spain and Italy, but the Englishman ultimately decided to return to his beloved Borussia Dortmund team. He desired to play soccer with freedom which compelled Sancho to go back to Germany.

Sebastian Kehl, the Sporting Director of Borussia Dortmund, encapsulated Jadon’s dreams in his comments about the Englishman. The comments came after Jadon Sancho’s loan deal was made official, where he said, “Jadon Sancho only wanted to come to Borussia Dortmund. People love him here. It won’t take him long to integrate. But we have to give him some time. I found him very well in training”.
Reportedly, Sebastian along with the club coach Edin Terzic played a huge role in luring Jadon Sancho back to Germany. The duo promised that the Dortmund teammates would give Sancho freedom to play according to him and that the Englishman would receive an ample amount of playing time. Something, that Jadon Sancho has been missing after his rift with Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag.
Ralf Ragnick defends Jadon Sancho amidst rumors of a rift with Erik ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had completely ostracized Jadon Sancho, after their public fallout in the latter half of 2023. The Englishman was made to train and have his meals alone. Sancho could not even find a place in United’s squad photo, let alone a place in the playing XI. Erik ten Hag attributed the strict treatment of the Englishman, to his indiscipline and laziness during training sessions.
However, Ralf Ragnick, the former manager of ‘The Red Devils’ begged to differ from the Dutch tactician. The German coach believes that he never encountered any difficulties while managing Sancho.

Ragnick even praised the 23-year-old’s professionalism. He said in an interview with Sky Sports Germany (via Goal), “In the six months I had him, there wasn’t a single discipline problem. On the contrary. He is a calm and pleasant guy.
“He had his best time in Dortmund and, when he was healthy, always played for me. However, he wasn’t as carefree as in Dortmund. But that was also due to the overall situation. When he was fit, he was set and did well under me.”
The German coach, however, agreed that Sancho wasn’t as carefree at Manchester United as he was at Borussia Dortmund. According, to Ralf Ragnick, Jadon Sancho’s loan deal to Dortmund can be a game-changer and makes perfect sense. Everything would, however, depend upon the Englishman’s fitness and his rhythm.
